THE KSN DREAM HOUSE FOR THE CURE
Dream House interior plans coming together by Leon SmithermanKSN News WICHITA, Kansas -- Sometimes unpleasant weather has its advantages. Instead of being outside in the cold and freezing rain, we're here in the warm boardroom of Nies Homes with Cherie Nies-Cowgill where we're going over the developing plans for the KSN Dream House for the Cure. Even though weather has slowed down work on the construction site, there are still a lot of things going on. "We have a lot of interior finishing that we're just working through," said Cherie. "The walls are curing but there is a lot happening here. We have plumbing fixtures and details that we're working through. We have the kitchen detailing and cabinets that we're designing." Because the KSN Dream House for the Cure project came together so quickly, Nies Homes was working on blueprints and plans to determine how the home would lay out. Now they are working on the interior details. "We have all the cabinetry designing being done as we speak. We have cabinet styles and finishes, wood species and colors that we're deciding what we are going to be using." "We have literally hundreds of choices of plumbing. Kohler is what we're choosing to use in the home. We have some choices of, literally, hundreds of kitchen faucets." So the weather really isn't slowing things down much since the basement walls are curing. So what kind of weather do we need next to move on? "We need weather above freezing next week so we can pour the basement floor," said Cherie. "We pour the floor in concrete and when we pour that we'd like it above freezing." Now it's up to Mother Nature to help us along. |
