WICHITA, Kansas --
We're continuing the build on the KSN Dream House for the Cure, and this week we are waterproofing the basement. Paul Woods of Professional Waterproofing was on site to tell us more about the process.
The basement is poured and Paul's company is going to make sure the water stays on the outside of the basement so it won't turn into a dream pool.
"The product we are going to apply has a lifetime warranty so that the family who purchases this house will be assured that they have a dry basement for as long as they live in the home," said Woods. "And it is a transferable warranty so they can transfer it to whoever buys the house."
"What we're going to apply a coating to the exterior walls, then we'll install a drainage system so when water accumulates it'll be taken away."
So what is it?
"It is a rubberized product. It's called a polymer-modified asphalt and the product will stretch. When a small crack occurs in the concrete wall this will stretch to bridge the crack so water doesn't migrate."
"We spray it on with a pump that produces about 3,000 pounds of pressure and it just sprays it right on the wall."
So what kind of results have they had?
"We've picked the very best product we have available for this project. We have applied this to commercial projects and high-end residential projects."
